Frequently asked questions
- Does converting JPG to PNG improve quality?
- No. The PNG output will be at least as good as your JPG, but it cannot recover quality lost during JPEG compression. For a true quality improvement you would need the original source image.
- Why is the PNG larger than the JPG?
- PNG stores full pixel data without lossy compression, so files are naturally larger than JPG equivalents. That's a trade-off for higher quality.
- Will the converted PNG have a transparent background?
- No. JPG files have no transparency channel, so the PNG output will have an opaque background matching the original image.
- Is this safe to use for private or sensitive photos?
- Yes. The entire conversion happens locally in your browser. No image data is ever sent to any server.
- Can I convert multiple JPG files at once?
- Currently each conversion is one file at a time. Select a file, convert it, download, then repeat for the next image.
